[Presentation] Representing & (Re) Imagining The Black Male Body In Hip Hop
In this discussion Nicole examines through photography and film, the ways that the black male body is represented in Hip Hop culture. While sparking a conversation that challenges the viewer to (re) imagine, question and/or dispute normative perceptions of black (male) representation and identity.
In the Spring of 2013 Nicole was invited by members of Latitude Chicago to lecture on topics centered around her work on black bodies, representation and identity in visual culture in America. With much thought and time spent on exploring complex and challenging questions Nicole seeks to offer newer perspectives on a topic that has been explored and taught intensively by scholars around the world.
